Help & Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Marrow & Ink.

What is Marrow & Ink?
Marrow & Ink is a serialized fiction platform built for dark, visceral storytelling. We publish human-written dark fantasy, romantasy, horror, gothic fiction, grimdark, queer fiction, and stories that the mainstream algorithm buries. Readers can follow live serials chapter by chapter, or purchase finished editions to own forever.
Is the content on Marrow & Ink AI-generated?
No. Every word published on Marrow & Ink is written by a human author. We do not publish AI-generated prose, and all authors agree to this as a condition of publishing with us. We run forensic metadata checks on every manuscript upload as an additional verification layer.
What genres do you publish?
We specialize in dark fiction: dark fantasy, romantasy, horror, gothic fiction, grimdark, queer fiction, POC-led stories, and taboo narratives that the mainstream market sidelines. If it's visceral, human, and unafraid of the dark — it belongs here.
How does serialized fiction work?
Serialized fiction is released chapter by chapter, usually on a weekly schedule — like a TV show for readers. You follow along as the story unfolds in real time. New chapters drop on a schedule, and early-access readers get each installment before anyone else.
What's the difference between a serial and a finished edition?
A serial is a live work being released chapter by chapter — you read along as the author writes. A finished edition (what we call a Master Edition) is a complete, polished work you can purchase and own as an ebook file. Finished editions include everything: the full story, all revisions, and a social watermark with your name.
Are the files DRM-free?
Yes. We don't believe in heavy-handed DRM that punishes legitimate readers. Every purchased file is personalized with a social watermark — your name embedded in the file — rather than locked with restrictive software. You own what you buy.
What is a social watermark?
A social watermark is a subtle personalization embedded in your purchased file: your name and purchase details are woven into the metadata and select passages. It protects authors from piracy without restricting what you can do with your legitimately purchased copy.
How do I become an author on Marrow & Ink?
We operate a gated application process to maintain quality and community. Submit an application on our Become an Author page — we ask for a short bio, a writing excerpt, and your genre focus. Our editorial team reviews all applications and responds personally.
Do authors keep their rights?
Yes. You own your work. Marrow & Ink is a distribution and monetization platform, not a publisher claiming rights. Authors retain full copyright over everything they publish here.
When does early access open?
We're currently in a waitlist phase. Join the waitlist on our home page and you'll be among the first readers invited when we open the gates. We're onboarding authors and curating the first wave of releases before opening to readers.
